How To Find Your Inner Creative Genius

What is your dream?

Some may say to be a doctor, or perhaps an engineer. Difficult professions, for sure, but there is a defined path for these professions that you can follow to success.

But what if your dream isn’t so “practical,” as they say? What if there isn’t a divined path, and you have no idea where to start? What if you want to be an actor, or a dancer, or a writer, and you’re terrified that you will never succeed?

In her TED talk, Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat Pray Love, answers that very question with some anecdotes of her own. She addresses her own struggles as a teenager when others asked her, “Aren’t you afraid you won’t be able to succeed?” And she addressed her own struggles after Eat Pray Love, when others asked her, “Aren’t you afraid you’ll never succeed like that again?

Why does creativity and the chase for it have to lead to such anguish? It doesn’t, answers Gilbert. And her take on it is one that will change your view of creativity forever.
